A very healthy, nutritious replacement for carbs. This Moong Dal Chilla is very tasty & high in protein. If you are looking to be on a no-carb diet, look no further. Loved the way it tasted.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Moong dal (yellow)
- 1 green chilli
- small piece of ginger
- green part of scallions or Chopped cilantro
- 1 small onion chopped
- salt to taste
- 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
- water (only if needed)
- Olive oil
Directions:
Soak the dal for about a couple of hours.
In a blender, put dal, ginger and green chilli. Blend it together without water if possible. If you see it is not working then add a little bit water to make smooth batter.
Now add the chopped cilantro, onion, scallions, salt and red chilli powder. Mix well. If the batter is too thick then add a little water to adjust the consistency. The consistency shouldn’t be too runny or thick.
Heat the fry pan and add like about half teaspoon of oil. Using a ladle, pour the batter and spread as thin as you can. Let it cook. If needed put a little oil all around the edge of the chilla. Scrape the sides with a flat spatula and turn.
Cook on the other side on a medium heat until done. You can flip one more time to make sure it is cooked all the way. Serve hot with any type of side. I served it with yogurt. In the yogurt I added half a teaspoon of mint chutney and gave it a mix.
